This policy explains what personal information AFRICA RISE collects through theafricarise.com, why we collect it, how we use it, and what choices you have.
AFRICA RISE is operated by AFRICA RISE Inc., a corporation registered in the State of Georgia, United States, with its registered address at 1700 Northside Drive NW, Unit #709, Suite A7, Atlanta, GA 30318, USA. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to that entity. If you have questions about anything below, write to info@theafricarise.com.
What we collect
When you register for an event. First and last name, email address, phone number, and the category you select when registering (for example: athlete, founder, investor, brand, media). If we add organization and job title fields, we collect those too.
When you join the AFRICA RISE Community (ARC) mailing list. First and last name and email address.
When you contact us directly. Whatever you choose to include in your message, including your name, email address, and the content of the message itself.
Automatically, when you visit the site. Standard technical information collected by our website platform and any analytics tools we use — including IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring website, and time spent on the site. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 years old. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with:
Service providers who help us operate. Our website platform (Squarespace), our email and mailing tools, our form and analytics tools, and any registration or ticketing provider we use. These providers process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Event partners, where necessary and only with notice. Some of our events are co-hosted with partners such as venues and local organizations. Where we need to share an attendee list — for example, for venue access or security at a specific site — we share only what is necessary, and we will tell you in advance.
Authorities, where legally required. If we are compelled by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
International transfers
We operate across Africa, Europe, and North America, and some of our service providers store data outside the country you live in. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we take steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard comparable to the protection it has in your home country, including through contractual safeguards with our providers.
How long we keep it
Event registration information: for the duration of the event cycle and up to 24 months afterward, so we can contact you about future editions.
Mailing list information: until you unsubscribe, and for a short period afterward to record that you opted out.
Correspondence: up to 24 months from our last exchange.
Technical and analytics data: in line with the retention settings of the tools we use, typically no more than 26 months.
Where we are required to keep records longer for legal or accounting reasons, we do.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:
Access — ask what we hold about you and get a copy
Correction — have inaccurate information fixed
Deletion — ask us to erase your information
Restriction — ask us to limit how we use it
Portability — receive your information in a portable format
Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests
Withdraw consent — at any time, for anything we do on the basis of consent

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link at the bottom of every message. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop essential messages about an event you have registered for.
If you are in Senegal, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Commission de Protection des Données Personnelles (CDP).
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

We use cookies to make the site work, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. Essential cookies are necessary for the site to function. Analytics cookies help us see which pages people visit.
